About me
My name is Claire Maria Franklin (she/her) and I am a Freelance Translator specialising in Korean > English translation!
From a young age, I have been passionate about languages. From early primary/elementary school to high/middle school, I studied French at GCSE level, achieving an A as my final grade. For reasons still unknown to me, I chose not to pursue the language in college, as I thought a science route would be better for my career.
Oh boy was I wrong.
While miserably studying the sciences, I discovered my true passion… Korean. The language, culture, and history of Korea grabbed hold of my heart and wouldn’t let go. And so, to rectify my career choice, I decided to go full speed ahead and pursue my passions at university.
Korean Translation
Once I graduated with a BA (Hons) in TESOL and Korean, I made the last-minute decision to pursue my language goals to the fullest and enrol on an MA course with UCLan. There were many ups and downs, and imposter syndrome was rife, but with the help of my tutor and friend Dr Mia Kim, and my fellow MA classmates, I graduated with an MA in Interpreting and Translation (Korean).
Now I intend to become a full-fledged translator and specialise in any subjects that interest me. As of right now, the fields I’d like to specialise in are Webtoon translation, Gaming localisation, and literature translation!
